60,000 Google Phones Shipping Per Day

60,000 cell phones running Google’s Android operating system are shipping each day. During the first 74 days after the Apple iPhone launched, 1,000,000 phones sold. During the first 74 days after the Android phone launched, 1,050,000 sold, edging out the iPhone slightly. At the moment, iPhones are selling more per day, but if current trends continue, the Android phone sales will outpace iPhone sales within the next two or three months.

In mid-December, 15,000 apps (programs) were available for Google Android phones, vs 140,000 for the iPhone, but now there are 30,000 apps available, and as Android phones flood the market, the proliferation of Android apps could accelerate. Many of these apps are free, and are very powerful, since they can use the built in GPS, camera, Internet, accelerometer, and magnetometer.

Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile are now selling Android phones, and by mid 2010, AT&T will be on board as well. All of these companies require contracts, most of them for two years, and levy a hefty penalty for early termination. Most of the cell phones in other parts of the world use SIM cards, which allow the user to easily and inexpensively switch from one carrier to another. I know from experience how easy it is to use the same phone in Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Australia, just by switching SIM cards.

In addition to contracts, the major cell phone carriers charge $100 to $160 per month or more for voice, text, and Internet service, and often ad taxes and other charges. Some plans that offer Internet, only make it available on the phone. Laptops cannot be connected to the Internet through the phone. The plans that allow the phone to connect to a laptop use a USB cable, so that only one laptop computer can use the Internet at one time.

The plans also impose a 5 gigabyte limit on Internet usage. Watch a few YouTube videos, and it’s easy to exceed 5 GB and rack up extra charges.

An exciting alternative has recently emerged, providing innovative solutions to all these issues. Wow Mobile, a new branch of an established company, Liberty International, offers cell phone service for Android phones as well as any cell phone that uses a SIM card, such as the inexpensive prepaid phones. The plans do not have contracts or termination fees. Unlimited voice, text, and Internet is available for a flat fee, and multiple laptops can use the Internet through an Android phone’s WiFi capability. Imagine having a personal WiFi hotspot available wherever you go, providing high speed, unlimited Internet access to multiple computers.

At 60,000 phones per day, Google Android phones are flooding the market, and sales will only increase. Wow Mobile is positioned to take advantage of this explosion by offering competitive plans and exciting income opportunities for those who help spread the word.
