Iphone Unlock 3.1.3 Dev Team
Quick iPhone Status
A couple of days ago Apple released the new iPhone OS 3.1 for the iPhone. Apple also released a firmware update for the iPod Touch. Unlike the iPhone OS 3.1 the iPod Touch firmware is being pushed out as iPhone OS 3.1.1. This new iPhone OS enhance some of the features, it also add new features on the iPhone. For example, it improved synching music, movies, TV shows, podcasts and photos, iTunes U content organization, Option to “Save as new clip” when trimming a video on iPhone 3GS [There are reports that shows the iPhone 3G and iPod touch also gained the ability to use the trimming video feature], better iPhone 3G Wi-Fi Performance when Bluetooth is on, fixes icons displaying incorrectly and many more.
Many iPhone 3G and iPhone 2G users who upgraded to the iPhone OS 3.1 were having problems accessing their Microsoft accounts due to incompatibility of iPhone 3G and iPhone 2G with exchange’s server-side encryption. It looks like the iPhone 3G S did not present this kind of problem. This problem evidently was cause by a bug since before upgrading to iPhone OS 3.1 users were able to access their Microsoft accounts without any problems.
Many AT&T customers are already reporting that they can use MMS on their iPhone even before September 25th the official day MMS goes live. For those lucky customers MMS has started working without any action from them to get it working. However, other customers are angry knowing some users can use MMS and their device still is not able to. People from krillr.com have created a guide which explains how to get the MMS working. The story is still the same many users have successfully got it working while others have not.
As for owners of jailbroken and unlock iPhones, many are still waiting for the right tools to upgrade to the iPhone OS 3.1 and not lose their Ultrasn0w unlock. However, even though MuscleNerd on his twitter page and many other users have been warning people not to upgrade their device unless they want to lose their unlock privileges, many have updated only to find out that they probably will not be able to unlock their device again. Sad but true story, please if you feel that you need the unlock, do not update till the right tools come out.
The Dev Team is already working on the iPhone OS 3.1 and according to them you will soon be able to create custom 3.1 IPSWs using PwnageTool that let you pre-hack your 3.1 update in a way that preserves the carrier unlock. So please just be patient and stay away from iPhone OS 3.1 till then.
