How the iPhone 3GS has Developed into a Powerful Business Tool

If there was one criticism of the last incarnation of the iPhone that actually stuck it was that it struggled to work as a successful business tool. It had tremendous success in almost every other market segment, appealing to a broad range of people, but there were issues that stopped it from being a powerful business tool.

It was unfortunate but when it came to being used for business the iPhone lacked certain requirements. Requirements such as processing power, it tended to slow down as it ran multiple applications, and lacking a few ‘tweaks’, such as a copy and paste function.

The iPhone 3GS

The iPhone 3GS, the latest incarnation of Apple’s smart-phone, has changed things. Gone are the processing problems seen before – they have beefed up the hardware to ensure that there is more than enough power to let it run numerous apps at the same time.

Similarly they have addressed other issues, not least giving the phone full 3G web capabilities and addressing the lack of a copy and paste function – both major problems in previous versions of the phone.

The growth in the applications market has also been a huge boon to those considering the iPhone as a business tool. There are a lot of ‘heavyweight’ players that have come in to the market that help the phone as a business tool.

For example there are now numerous CMS (contact management solutions) apps that enable the phone to synchronise with a company database. This is useful for any role that has client facing responsibilities – as you will always have access to the information stored on your companies mainframe.

This, coupled with previous uses such as being able to properly connect with the Microsoft exchange server to ensure full email access anywhere in the world you can get signal means that the iPhone has turned into one of the best mobile business tools on the market.
